EUROPEAN NETWORK FOR ALTERNATIVE TESTING STRATEGIES IN ECOTOXICOLOGY (EUROECOTOX)

Major objectives of EUROECOTOX will be:

• Promote cooperation, coordination and exchange of know-how and scientific experience between research organisations, universities, industry, national authorities, regulators and validating organizations in Europe involved in alternative testing strategies for ecotoxicology, in order to coordinate the so far fragmented efforts to direct this emerging discipline into the most industrially beneficial and socially viable directions.
• Identification of promising alternative methods to accelerate the validation of new eco-toxicological testing methods for the implementation of EU and national regulations which comply with the need to reduce the use of animals for testing.
