The subject matter of the project is to study effects of selected physical factors (ultrasound, high or low temperature) and some substances with anti-tumour activity (taxol derivatives, vinca alcaloides and cytochalasins) on the cytoskeleton of normal o r tumour cells - alone (separately) or in combination. The applied ultrasound will be continuous, 1 MHz frequency, and of intensities up to 1 W.cm-2. The immunofuorescence microscopy with probes specific for individual components of the cytoskeleton (mic rotubules, microfilaments and intermediate filaments) will be used for detection of the cytoskeletal changes. An increased attention will be paid to the indirect action of ultrasound, which can be mediated by the insonated medium. The project is inspired by the effort to increase the effectiveness of cancer chemotherapy by simultaneous local application of a physical factor. Another inspiration is the effort to identify the ultrasound effects on cellular level, and especially to distinguish between spec
